Well….it’s finally the day! We are leaving for China.

We left Charlottetown around 11:00 am and arrived in Vancouver at 5:00 pm (which would be 9:00 pm in Ch’town!) It has been a long day but Chris and I are so glad to finally be here in the hotel! The plane rides were long and boring.

On our flight from Toronto to Vancouver we met 2 other families in our travel group – Tony & Lynn and Bobby & Nicole! It was really neat to meet them finally as we have been emailing for months now!

Day 2 & 3- I guess. January 22-23

Hello everyone! We are finally in Beijing – in the State Guest Hotel. It is a beautiful hotel and we are so glad to finally have a place to stretch our legs!!!

Today was one of the longest days of our lives! We had to wait about 3 ½ hours at the Vancouver Airport – our flight was delayed for 1 ½ hours and then we settled in the plane for an 11 hour plane ride!

We left on Saturday at 2:10 pm from Vancouver and we arrived in Beijing on SUNDAY at 5:30 pm. So we have been up for over 24 hours straight!

Hopefully we get a good night’s sleep tonight as we are off at 5:00 AM in the morning to fly to Changsha.

TOMORROW we will finally meet Alyssa and actually hold her in our arms! Unbelievable! As we were driving from the airport to Beijing (about an hour’s drive) I was so overcome because I couldn’t believe Chris and I were actually here! We saw lots of cool shops, a 2 story Pizza Hut (brand new), a few McDonald’s and KFC.

We are so exhausted tonight, though, we are not doing any wandering around the city. We are doing this update, going to try and call the boys and then hit the sack! Tomorrow is going to be so exciting….finally the moment we have all been waiting for!

Caleb, Dylan and Nathan, we will try and get our pictures up from “Gotcha Day” as quickly as we can so you can see your new little sister!

We love you all lots and miss you very much! (more...)
