U.S. Signs Agreement with Vietnam            Read Adoption Stories- Vietnam

Vietnam Adoption has recently opened in the U.S. after being closed since 2003. Vietnam has begun allowing adoption by people in several European countries. Denmark, Italy, Sweden and Ireland have signed agreements to adopt and have active adoption programs.

Couples and single women and single men are eligible to adopt. There is a two trip travel requirement for prospective adoptive parents. The first trip may be as short as one week and the second as long as three weeks.

Children live in orphanages and if the child is first for prospective parents, the child’s gender can not be requested. The US state department considers it "difficult to classify some children as orphans under U.S. immigration law. Several instances of payment to birth mothers to induce them to give up a child have been documented."
